Richard DeForno, DMD, MAGD, FICOI, of Glenmoore, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Rich was a beloved and dedicated participant in PAGD’s PEAK Mastertrack, and a mentor and friend to many PAGD members. He was 71 years old.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1976. In 1984, he opened Thorndale Dental Associates and Thorndale Dental Arts Lab, where he practiced until March 2020.
Rich was committed to excellence in dentistry. He served as the President of the Delaware Valley LD Pankey Study Club, of which he was a member. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the A.V. Purinton Academy; where he was a member of the Board. Rich was a member and mentor of the LD Pankey Institute and the Academy of Implant Dentistry. He served on the PAGD board from 2005–2008.
In July 2002, he was the recipient of Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. In attaining his Mastership, Richard met the highest criteria for professional excellence in his profession.
Richard spent a lot of time with his wife and their five Nokota Horses, as well as with the many animals they own on his Farm. He loved to ski, ride his Harley, travel, but most of all spend time with his family.
PAGD passes along its condolences to Rich’s wife, Stephanie,
and his family. We will fondly remember Rich as giving with his time and talents, and for a life well lived.
